Microsoft Open License — For Organizations of All Sizes

A Microsoft Open License program brings the benefits of volume software licensing to organizations of all sizes. With any Open License program, you get discounted prices on all orders placed during the term of your agreement.

An Open License program offers you three great ways to save:

  • Open Value for organizations, of up to 250 desktops, that want to stay current and get more from technology investments. Place an initial order of five or more licenses along with Software Assurance and get the ability to spread payments over the course of the year, plus training opportunities, upgrades and support. Choose the company-wide option for even greater savings.
  • Open Business for organizations that want savings over retail prices and can place an initial order of just five or more licenses — or just one server license. Combine any set of Microsoft products to qualify for the five-license minimum. And you can get the same savings when you place additional orders as small as a single license over the course of your two-year term.
  • Open Volume for organizations that can place a larger, qualifying initial order to realize additional savings. To qualify, place an initial order of 500 points in one or more product pools of applications, systems or servers. Additional orders, as small as a single license, qualify for the same savings over the course of your two-year term.

Open Value Details
Part of the Microsoft Open License family, the Open Value program is designed for organizations, with as few as five desktops, that want volume pricing along with the upgrades, tools and training benefits of Software Assurance.

With Open Value, get all the software you need without incurring all the costs up-front. Break both licensing and included Software Assurance costs down into monthly payments over your agreement term, and turn software into a predictable budget item. The Open Value agreement term is three years and can be renewed for another three years when the initial agreement expires.

You can decide to purchase licenses in three ways: subscription, non-company-wide and company-wide. Talk to your Dell account manager about the option that works best for your organization.

Company-Wide Option
Get a single price for every desktop when you standardize on one or more Microsoft Enterprise product. The company-wide option offers additional savings opportunities and the ability to spread your payments over the course of the year.

Open Business Details
Easy to understand, the Open Business has simple, clear terms for acquiring licenses. It’s flexible for purchasing and easy to administer.

Place an initial order for a minimum of five licenses to obtain an Open Business Authorization Number. The authorization number is valid for two years. With no minimum purchase requirements, you can purchase licenses and optional Software Assurance as your business grows.

Place reorders with your valid authorization number at a minimum of one license per reorder. Note that Software Assurance expires when your license authorization number expires, regardless of the point during the term in which it was purchased.

Open Volume Details
The Open Volume program is designed for organizations that need as few as five, and up to thousands, of licenses. It is especially useful for organizations that need multiple copies of particular titles. You get substantial savings, ease of deployment, flexible acquisition, and multiple payment options plus access to Software Assurance.

Microsoft products are grouped in product pools and assigned a point value. The number of points you purchase in your initial order for a particular product pool determines your Open Volume License level and price discount. Your Open Volume authorization number is valid for two years. To determine the points and pools associated with your order, talk to your Dell account manager.

Purchase licenses and optional Software Assurance as needed over your two-year term. Note that Software Assurance expires when your license authorization number expires, regardless of the point during the term in which it was purchased.

Software Assurance
Strengthen your purchasing power, and get more from your software investments with Microsoft’s Software Assurance. By adding Software Assurance, you get automatic access to software upgrades plus tools, training and support to help your organization deploy and use software efficiently.

eOpen License Tool
With any Open License program, you get access to an online tool that helps you manage your open license orders. eOpen gives you electronic order confirmation, license order history and the ability to create personalized views to make software management even easier.

eOpen is available for license orders made in more than 180 countries. Check with your Dell account manager for details on costs and availability.

Microsoft Select License Program — For Organizations With Mixed Purchasing Requirements

Microsoft® Select Licensing Program was designed for corporate, government and academic customers with 250 or more desktops and mixed product and purchasing requirements. Its benefits include:

  • Ease of use — Simply acquire and pay for the software license and software assurance as needed
  • Convenient license acquisition with simple monthly order confirmations for new licenses
  • License acquisition through multiple purchasing locations for various departments or subsidiaries located throughout the world
  • Software for training — Get up to 20 copies of most Microsoft software for training purposes
  • The ability to stay current with the option to purchase Microsoft Software Assurance for each license

The Select License offers customers a flexible, tiered, volume-based program that gives an organization a simple way to order and acquire licenses. Select License pricing is based on a forecast of the total volume of Microsoft software licenses you expect to acquire over a three-year period. Forecast your needs within product pools for applications, systems and servers. The product pools allow you to aggregate purchases across an entire category of products to achieve better volume pricing.

Software Assurance
Strengthen your purchasing power, and get more from your software investments with Microsoft Software Assurance. By adding Software Assurance, you get automatic access to software upgrades plus tools, training and support to help your organization deploy and use software efficiently.

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement — For Standardization in Organizations With 250 or More Desktops

Designed for organizations with 250 or more desktops, Enterprise Agreement allows you to standardize on your choice of Microsoft® Enterprise products (Microsoft Office Professional, Microsoft Windows® Professional Upgrade and Core Client Access License) at discounted prices based on a three-year agreement term across all PCs in your organization. Enterprise Subscription Agreement allows you to subscribe to — rather than purchase — Microsoft software licenses.

With Enterprise, you get lower total cost of ownership, annual payments over the three-year term and improved workplace productivity by standardizing on Microsoft software. And with Software Assurance, you get eligibility for the latest upgrades, deployment support and training for all enrolled products.

Enterprise Agreements are a direct contract with Microsoft in conjunction with Enterprise Service Advisor (ESA). The total quantity of qualified desktops is used to determine the pricing level for the enterprise products. The Enterprise Agreement simplifies license administration by only requiring a single transaction to acquire licenses across the entire enterprise. You get immediate access at all times to the most current versions of the enterprise platform products elected in the agreement.

With this program, you can establish set software prices for three years, simplifying budgeting and providing predictable software costs for the term of your agreement. While under agreement, there is no need to track license usage or software versions, reducing risk from license noncompliance and associated costs.

Enterprise Subscription Details
Microsoft Enterprise Subscription Agreement is a software volume licensing program designed for corporate customers, with 250 or more desktops, who prefer to subscribe to — rather than purchase — Microsoft software licenses. You can standardize the enterprise by licensing Microsoft Enterprise products (Microsoft Office Professional, Microsoft Windows Professional Upgrade, and Core Client Access License) at discounted prices. Additional products available under subscription offer a broad selection including Visio®, Project, Windows servers and Exchange servers.

Businesses, with a minimum of 250 desktops, that wish to license 100 percent of their qualified desktops for a three-year period, can initiate a subscription. Non-perpetual software use rights provide temporary use of software with an option to buy out software licenses for permanent use rights.

An annual PC count enables an organization to shape software license acquisition needs around fluctuations in the enterprise. Annual payments for the three-year enrollment term keep budgeting predictable, with a renewal option of one or three years.

Software Assurance
Strengthen your purchasing power and get more from your software investments with Microsoft’s Software Assurance. By adding Software Assurance, you get automatic access to software upgrades plus tools, training and support to help your organization deploy and use software efficiently.

Microsoft Public License Program — Designed to Serve Nonprofit Organizations

Designed to serve nonprofit organizations, this program allows organizations to purchase multiple software licenses at reduced prices by placing an initial order for five or more licenses. Combine Microsoft® products to qualify for the five-license minimum and place additional orders as small as one license over the two-year term.

With no minimum purchase requirements, you can purchase licenses and optional Software Assurance as your organization grows.

Place reorders with your valid authorization number at a minimum of one license per reorder. Note that Software Assurance expires when your license authorization number expires, regardless of the point during the term in which it was purchased.
